*In analog processing, voltage levels fluctuate between positive and negative values, crossing through a zero point. Digital transmission methods, such as AES, SPDIF, USB, and Ethernet, improve the accuracy of data packet edge detection; these methods also require a reference point at zero. Establishing a common reference ground throughout the system creates a zero crossing point, which enhances analog fidelity and reduces data loss.
